The Berkeley Library is a library in Trinity College Dublin named after a philosopher who attended the college. There is a significant movement to rename the library, due to Berkeley's support of and participation in slavery. In the meantime, the library has been renamed to 'The X Library'.

"We prefer self-government with danger to servitude in tranquility" is a famous quote that argues that the welfare of one people cannot be given in trust indefinitely to another, no matter how benevolent the governing power might be.
